1 For BlackBerry Media Sync to work your media enabled BlackBerry smartphone must be connected to your computer via a USB cable. Certain music files may not be supported by the media player, including incompatible file types and files that contain digital rights management technologies.
2 BlackBerry Media Sync is compatible with devices featuring BlackBerry Device software v4.2 or higher. Devices that do not feature built-in mass storage capabilities (significant amounts of on-board memory) will require a microSD card to be properly inserted. This includes the BlackBerry® 8100 Series, the BlackBerry® 8300 Series and the BlackBerry 8800 Series.
3 Media Sync is compatible with 32-bit editions of Windows XP Service Pack 2 which can be used with iTunes version 7.0 or higher AND 32-bit editions of Windows Vista which can be used with iTunes version 7.2 or higher. Not compatible Windows 2000 or with MAC OS.
4 All applicable charges will still apply for the purchase of music from iTunes.
5 The BlackBerry® Pearl™ smartphones, BlackBerry® Curve™ smartphone and BlackBerry® 8800 Series smartphones accept microSD cards of all sizes (a minimum version of BlackBerry® Device Software may be required); the amount of storage is determined by card capacity. May be sold separately.

System Requirements
To use BlackBerry® Media Sync you require the following:
- On Your Computer:
- 30 MB available hard drive capacity
- Windows® XP (32-bit) with service pack 2 or higher OR Windows Vista™ (32-bit)
- iTunes Requirements:
- iTunes version 7.0 or higher (Windows® XP 32-bit with service pack 2 or higher) OR iTunes version 7.2 or higher (Windows Vista™ 32-bit)
- Your BlackBerry smartphone:
- BlackBerry® Device Software v4.2 or higher
- Smartphones that do not feature built-in mass storage capabilities (significant amounts of on-board memory) will require a microSD card to be properly inserted. This includes the BlackBerry® Pearl™ 8100 Series, the BlackBerry® Curve™ 8300 Series and the BlackBerry® 8800 Series.
- Supported file formats:
- Audio Files contained in iTunes that are supported by BlackBerry smartphones
- Only files with either wav, mp3, aac, m4a extensions
- Playlists containing photos, videos or any unsupported audio file will not be synchronized with the BlackBerry smartphone
- Files that are not compatible with the BlackBerry media player or protected files controlled by digital rights management technologies can not be copied.

Setting up BlackBerry Media Sync
The first time you use the BlackBerry Media Sync software, you are prompted to complete the following information. You can change these settings at any time in the Options menu.
- Connect your BlackBerry device to the computer using a USB cable. Do not disconnect the device until you are prompted to do so.
- On the taskbar, click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Media Sync > BlackBerry Media Sync. A welcome screen opens.
- Complete the following actions:
- In the Name your device field, type a personalized name for your BlackBerry device.
- In the Keep __ % free from music field, specify the amount of media card memory or on-board device memory that will not contain music files.
- Click OK.
Transfer iTunes playlists from your computer to your device
Before you begin: Verify that mass storage mode is turned on in your device options. Click Help on your device for more information about mass storage mode.
- Connect your BlackBerry device to the computer using a USB cable.
- On the taskbar, click Start > Programs > BlackBerry Media Sync > BlackBerry Media Sync.
- Click Select playlist.
- Select the playlists that you want to transfer to your media card.
- Click Sync. If the playlists contain music with digital rights management (DRM), those music files are not synchronized.
- Click OK.
- Disconnect your BlackBerry device.
